Biography

Asiya Abdul Raheem is a Maldivian dietitian graduated from Universiti Putra Malaysia. After completion of her study, she went back to her country and started work as a dietitian in the main government hospital of the Maldives – IGMH. Since she was the only dietitian in that hospital at that time, she started dietetics in the hospital anew, and introduced the modern dietetics to the hospital. She contributed her fair share in the development of the food based dietary guideline for the Maldivians and was the national consultant in developing school food guide and school nutrition policy of the Maldives.

As a dietetic representative of the main government hospital, she contributed to various national level and international level nutrition programs and forums. Apart from this, Asiya extends her expertise to various other governmental and non-governmental organisations in planning and conducting various training programes, development of nutrition plans and nutrition friendly environments.
